What we mean by bone, joint and nerve pain
This covers pain that comes from the joints, the spine or the nerves. Osteoarthritis is wear of the cartilage in a joint, most often the knees, hips, hands and spine. Spondylosis is the same kind of wear in the neck (cervical) or lower back (lumbar).
Sciatica is pain along the sciatic nerve, from the lower back or buttock down the back of the leg, usually because a disc or narrowed space in the spine presses on a nerve root. Neuralgia is pain along a nerve, such as in the face, the ribs or after shingles. Nerve pain can also come from diabetes or a low vitamin B12 level.
What the consultation covers
We go through where the pain is, how it started, what it feels like, when it is worse and what eases it, and how far it limits walking, sitting, sleep and work. We also ask about past injuries, your job and posture, weight, diet and other health conditions.
Please have your X-ray, MRI or blood reports ready, along with any notes from an orthopaedic doctor, neurologist or physiotherapist.
Who this is for
- People with sciatica or a diagnosed disc problem in the lower back
- People with osteoarthritis of the knees, hips or hands
- People with cervical or lumbar spondylosis and recurring neck or back pain
- People with frozen shoulder or long-standing shoulder stiffness
- People with nerve pain after shingles, in the face, or with diabetes, alongside their usual care
Alongside your existing treatment
Homeopathic care is planned as an addition to your current treatment. Please keep taking the medicines your doctor has prescribed, and keep up any exercises or physiotherapy you have been given.
Some problems need an examination, imaging or a surgical opinion. If your symptoms suggest that, we will tell you and ask you to get it before or alongside homeopathic care.
